Shae’s landscape photography is not your typical landscape photography. Piles of dirt, puddles of water and colourful paper are transformed by simple camera tricks into epic mountain ranges, a sparkling night sky or lush rainforest flowers. Beloved kitsch objects interact with the landscape – a diamond python curiously encounters a toy snake, a landscape print presents itself within the Australian bush.
By using illusions and comparisons, multiple expressions of landscape are explored, blurring the lines between a constructed and a natural world, expanding and deconstructing.
Works from this series have been exhibited at The Substation and The Ballarat Foto Biennale. Developed 2011-13.
