IN BETWEEN HAPPY AND SAD IT’S PRICKLY
ONE NIGHT ONLY SHOWING OF NEW ARTWORK
‘In between happy and sad it’s prickly’ is a large wall installation with some mixed messages. Shae Rooke has crafted a laughing / crying emoji from over 15 000 drawing pins, painstakingly applied to the wall with the spiky part of the pin facing outwards. These humble everyday objects are transformed into a dangerous, richly textured surface, catching the light in a bedazzling display. Traversing the lines between differing emotions and expressions, misdirection, beauty and pain, attraction and fear; there is also a nod to the saying if you’re not laughing you’re crying.
Join us for a one night only showing of ‘In between happy and sad it’s prickly’ at Yonder Art Space 9th February 2017 6pm – 8pm.
‘In between happy and sad it’s prickly’ is a new work, developed during a summer residency at Yonder Art Space.
